Environmental Health & Safety Specialist /Industrial Hygienist (2 positions available)
San Diego , California

Occupational Services, Inc. is actively seeking to fill an entry-level position, which requires 0 - 2 years experience and a B.S. or M.S. in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Safety Management, Occupational Health, or Health Physics. Candidates will degrees in other disciplines will not be considered. Strong writing, communication, and training skills are mandatory. Furthermore, the applicant must be able to work independently in a productive small business environment and possess an entrepreneurial spirit and willing to market, promote, and grow the company. Applicant must also be proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Most importantly, we are looking for an individual with a strong desire to advance their career in Health and Safety with a fast paced growing consulting company. Occupational Services, Inc. (OSI) is an expanding San Diego based, health and safety consulting firm located in San Diego, CA, five miles from the Pacific Ocean. Established in 1988, OSI provides industrial hygiene, laboratory safety, and radiation safety, environmental compliance services to biotechnology companies, research laboratories, hospitals, and manufacturing facilities throughout Southern California.

Position Description:

The successful candidate, who will receive on the job training, will provide services in the areas of laboratory safety, radiation safety, chemical safety, and biological safety. More specifically, the candidate will:

- Complete industrial hygiene surveys

- Conduct indoor quality testing and molding sampling

- Deliver multiple safety training courses

- Act as a liaison during city, county and state regulatory inspections

- Inspect laboratories for Cal/OSHA compliance

- Write detailed safety and environmental assessment reports in an expedient manner

- Obtain and maintain environmental permits

- Arrange for the proper disposal of hazardous, radioactive, and biohazardous waste

- Conduct monthly radiation contamination surveys

- Conduct ergonomic assessments

- Review radiation safety programs and amend radioactive materials licenses

- Prepare written safety manuals

- Market, promote, and advance the company
